I want to be able to set up mailing systems on Debian GNU/Linux boxes and I
would like to use Courier because of its wide range of features. I have installed all the Debian courier packages version

This version is over four years ago. Nobody cares about it.

Upgrade to the current version.

MySQL database as in the documentation:

Now the questions:

1] Can SQWebMail support European time zones? The drop dowm only shows US zones.

The timezones come from a file.

The current version's configure script reads all timezones from tzdata, and uses them as the default, so just prune what you don't need.

2] The webadmin pages have lots of rubbish at the top of them. For instance this
is displayed at the top of the main menu page:

-- [#NOUPDATE=Install new configuration#] [#NOCANCEL=Cancel new configuration#]
[#DOUPDATE=Install new configuration#] +[#DOCANCEL=Cancel new configuration#] [#---#] -->

Could be a bug, but nobody's going to care about four year old code.

It looks like an incomplete comment to me. In the page source it coorus at the
head of the <head> tag just after the <title> tag. Have I set things up wrong or is this a bug?

3] This sounds completely stupid but I can't work out how to add a new mail
account to the system.

The same way you would've added a new account before.
