Hi

I have not done special setting.

Just follow the instruction in INSTALL:

cd /local/src/courier-imap-1.4.6.20020529 ./configure make su make install

Then I installed imap and pop3d: /usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/imapd.rc start /usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/pop3d.rc start

When I use email client (pop, imap) or telnet ( telnet host 110,telnet host 143) to test the connections, I got error message "ERR Kogin failed".

Checked the server logfile: authdaemond.lda[23842]:ldap_simple_bind_s failed: Can't caontact LDAP server authdaemond.lda[23469]:authdaemon: modules="authcustom authcram authuserdb authldap authpam",daemon=5 pop3d: LOGIN FAILED,ip=xxxx imapd: LOGIN FAILED,ip=xxxx

Because I just want authentication via passwd/shadow file,so I commented out the ldap mysql pgsql daemon in /usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/authlib/authdaemond. Restarted pop3d and imapd, checked the log file on server, the error again:

pop3d: LOGIN FAILED,ip=xxxx imapd: LOGIN FAILED,ip=xxxx

Hi

I am new in Courier IMAP.

If I just want authentication via traditional passwd/shadow in imapd and pop3,what should I do?

Read the documentation. And then if you still don't understand or can't make it work, then ask a relevant question with the exact problem description.
