My database name is 'provision'. I have installed mysql-4.0.20a-win.
Went to services and started the database and have a database creation
java app which used to work fine with "mysql-max-3.23.49-win" install. I
did not set any password for the root user. But I still get the above
error on a fresh install. The java app has the database URL as
"jdbc:mysql:///ProVision?user%3Droot%26useUnicode%3dTRUE%26characterEncoding%3dUTF8";
Any hints why I getting this error would be great.
Mysql-4.0.20a-win shipped with bad grant tables. A new release is being
built.
In any case, you might consider, for security's sake, _not_ using the
default 'root' user, and create an appropriate one.
