What's the eta on 1.8.0? Is there a pre-release version I can start using? Also... Is it just me or does 1.7.1 not work with mysql 4.1? Since I upgraded to 4.1 day before yesterday my program simply will not boot. Dies on making a connection. :) Yes, I did recompile mysql++

Hello list: My name is JD Smith and I come to you today with a few questions. I

have spent the last hour or so browsing the archives and have not quite found the answer to my question. 1) What is the ETA for getting mysql ++ 1.7.9 or greater out for vc++ 6.0, 2) Is there any way to get SSQLS working with vc++ 6? If I use anything above 15 entries my compiler just freezes... 15 and lower though and everything compiles and links fine. This is with 1.7.1 3) General newbish db programming question... Do you all suggest using one persistant connection to the db in a program or doing things more in the style of a php webpage... Create and kill a connection on each "page load" or in the case of a normal program command.... I was doing it the persistent way but anytime my program closed imporperly it was leaving behind threads in memory of the dbase server.. At one point my administrator said I had 130 threads active that were owned by no one. Needless to say this is a bad thing....

1.8.0, which is in the works, has support for VC++ 6.0, although not for SSQL.

Simply Microsoft's compiler, although it makes fine code, is not very strong in C++ compliance area.
