was a "kickself" problem.

wrong permissions meant it couldn't write to the .err file, because I'd got a path wrong in config.

I'm installing a cluster on Debian, and have managed to get everthing working except actually starting mysqld.

It starts then exits, but there's nothing in the .err file. I've tried specifying error log paths, and log paths and nothing is written out.

I've taken the install back and followed the quickstart in the Mysql Manual to see if i've missed anything, and it has the same result.

Can start the mnagement server, and connect to it. can start ndbd with --initial no problem, have added ndbcluster to the my.cnf in /etc/mysql/ but thats as far as I got.

prior to this I got a cluster runing on fedora, but that was at home, before joining this place. I can't imagine being Debian is going to make a huge difference, but i'm starting to feel stupid having managed to get a cluster working before using the most basic start guide, and it's not working here :S

Any suggestions, help appreciated.

Thanks
