but when takint the server into production, it still dies after one or two hours, so today I exported a directory from one of the virtual machines via NFS, and mounted it on a remote physical host, then I created a 1GB file on the nfs share and copied it within the mounted nfs share on the remote host.

After an hour, the server was frozen again, so I assume it must have to do sth. with the network interfaces.
