Scenario: - Client_A has some set of files (mostly head revision, but some not) - Client_B sync's the head revision of those files and deletes them (p4 delete) - Now Client_A doesn't appear to "have" any of them. No little yellow exclamation mark, no nothing.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but once Client B deletes the head revision, Client A should then show it as "head rev deleted".
That's what I thought. But it doesn't actually work that way (unless "Show Deleted Files" is checked)
If Client A then syncs to the head revision, the file will disappear from the client.
Yes, but they appear to have already disappeared. That was the confusing part.
It sounds like Client A sync'd after Client B deleted. (I'm using the 2001.1 client)
Nope. Didn't. That's whay it seemed so unexpected.
Ahh wait, now I see that there is another way... but "Show Deleted Depot Files" seems like overkill, doesn't it?
One of the feature requests I'd like to see is a "Show state of depot as of date/changelist". Showing ALL deleted files gets rather messy..especially after several code restructures. I haven't looked in awhile, but I believe P4Web has this feature.
It's been a while since I've looked at P4Web. But from what I remember, it not as easy to use as p4win -- and if my users are already using p4win, I m not sure why I would recommend the other.
Perferred/Expected behavior: "Show Deleted Depot Files" is checked -- no change to current behavior "Show Deleted Depot Files" is *not* checked -- then... 1) don't display deleted files if have revision #0(#none) or #head (assuming #head has been deleted) 2) display deleted files if have any other revision -- unless other revision was also a "deleted" revision ( I guess the unless part is what could make this one a bit tricky.)
Sounds like all you want is to be able to show all the #have files.
Exactly!
