You did not provide sufficient info for providing you with any detailed help. What field type did you use to store the path? Where do they disappear? How do you insert these path names? Via a PHP form? Maybe it's a security measure from PHP? AFAIK there is a special PHP directive (magic_quotes?) that does this. But this is all guesswork.
