So the answer becomes what tools you have at your disposal.

I am trying to integrate maildrop with postfix. Additionally I use mysql to store the virtual users.

The first thing that the maildrop delivery process does is change into the user's HOME directory. Since it doesn't exist, it never even gets to the point of reading hte maildroprc.

Well I am pretty sure that maildrop is accessing maildroprc (located under /etc/) since mail is placed in the directory defined in this file (example: $HOME/$HOST/$USER). From what I read, maildrop accesses first maildroprc and then goes to search for .mailfilter (not sure of the name). Obviously I do not have the latter file because I am not creating the maildirs.

The main reason why I tried to create mail directories from maildroprc is because postfix used to this automatically when the first email was sent. Note that I am not trying to compare the two - I just thought I missed some configuration settings from maildrop side.
