Subject:[beagleboard] xM: Boot fails. No video. Just .......60.... on serial

Naively believing the PDF documentation, I assumed I had a 4GB SD card (it appears to be 128MB) and before doing anything else, I backed up (rsync) the card on my brand spanking xM, and then ran through the steps to install Ubuntu.

So I probably screwed up the card. But I restored it (rsync again).

I plugged in a HDMI-DVI cable and a 3A 5V PSU to make it work.

Still, before I modified the card, since, and no matter what I do, all that happens when I turn the thing on is: no action on the video card, and all I get over the serial port is:

....60....................................................

I've got a powered USB hub and a keyboard and mouse plugged in, and they don't do anything either (eg no caps lock key light).

This seems a basic question, but if this is answered somewhere, well, the signal:noise ratio has defeated me in searching for it.

Advice?
