Actually not true, since we cannot send mail to lmsearch.com (violates RFC 1035) yet I can send email from hotmail to the account at that domain no problem, no bounces.
Hotmail is known for using multiple servers running different software. It's entirely possible that only a subset of their relays will cause a problem.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that you can manually enter this domain into smtproutes, which will allow your customers to send mail to this domain. However, mail from lmsearch.com to your domain will come bouncing back to them, and let them field complaints from THEIR customers.

Presently they *can* send from lmsearch.com to moment.net. In looking at their MX records (and other domains we are having problems with) it appears the fact they are using IP addresses rather than FQDN's for MX records might be the problem.
set query=mx lmsearch.com
Server: localhost Address: 127.0.0.1
lmsearch.com preference = 20, mail exchanger = mx2.insync.net lmsearch.com preference = 10, mail exchanger = 216.198.173.65
I gather this also from reading through DNS & Bind 3rd edition.
Am I totally off on this one?
Patrick
