Subject:[courier-users] Aliasing mail userActions...

Hi,

I have a strange problem with aliasing one particular user to another and I suspect I am misunderstanding some part of the set up of courier.

I am seeing hundreds of messages like the following in my sys log. They are all spam so I'm not that upset that they are going missing but I'd like to know what they are.

Aug 23 15:32:12 compost courierlocal: id=000CAF34.44E39C88.00007616,from=< con@023.com>,addr=<ma@crazysquirrel.com>: maildrop: Invalid home directory permissions - world writable. Aug 23 15:32:12 compost courierlocal: id=000CAF34.44E39C88.00007616,from=< con@023.com>,addr=<ma@crazysquirrel.com>,status: deferred

What seems to be the problem is that maildrop is complaining that /var/mail which is the mail users home directory is world writable. I set up an alias

mail: graham

(and ran makealiases) which should, I thought, have caused all the mail users e-mail to be delivered to me but that didn't solve the problem. The strange part of this problem is that if I send an email to ma@crazysquirrel.com it does actually get to me and gets aliasesed fine. I don't actually understand where this other mail is coming from.

I'm wondering if they are attempts at relaying or something like that. Can anyone shed some light on this problem for me.

Many thanks,

Graham
