Are you considering putting it into a port? If not, I think I'd like to do so (still in my copious free time). Do you see any problem with making it a port?

Whether the mWave code could be included in the base system, I can't say, but it's of sufficiently limited interest that it's probably better placed in the ports tree, anyhow.

Well, a bit of research shows that the WinModem on the 600E is based on the IBM ACP mWave modem, not a Lucent. IBM has open-sourced drivers for this chip available for Linux, so it might be possible to convert it to run on FreeBSD, but I don't have the time to learn to do it, let alone to do it.

I did this port a little while ago and it seems to work ok on my 600E. IBM have just posted my version of the source on their web site alongside the linux version:
