this is a problem with the package maintainer that you got your package from, since it is not from source you would need to contact that person and find out why its not working with your system

But in all two versions ?

I had a 100% Debian/STABLE system with courier 0.37 and now I have installed the backports to 0.45.4...

Realy wired...

In an installation from last year I have installed courier-mta already and it was working fine.
