Lets be clear, I didn't say that this software existed yet. I don't know that it does exist, just that Simon is working on it.

If so, do I need a /dev/dpt? How can a make one (/dev/MAKEDEV doesn't know anything about it, of course)?

This was documented in the original dpt patch files. It might be in the archive. You can actually cat some commands into the /dev/dpt device and get back some info.

I'm running 2.2.6 at the moment, BTW.
