I think this is what I have been fighting from the beginning. I tried it again and it still doesn't work. This is the authdaemonrc file that I am setting the number of auth daemons, where I set authmodulelist to userdb, and currently DEBUG_LOGIN.... and they all work.

I did a search on authdaemonrc and only came up with one.

Strange to me too!

Thanks for the help Brian, that's just what it took.

I still can't find out where to do it globally and get it to work, but at least now I can work with this.

That's strange. If you set

DEFAULTOPTIONS="foobar=1"

then restart authdaemond, then do 'authtest <someaccount>', that account should have foobar=1 added to its options list. Does it not?

If not, then I'd just check that you don't have two sets of DEFAULTOPTIONS settings in your authdaemonrc file, and that you don't have two authdaemonrc files on your system (and you're changing the wrong one).

# find / -name authdaemonrc
