Using maildrop-1.4.0, my messages don't have a "From " line at the beginning. The man page says:

If the message does not contain a From_ line, maildrop will create one (if needed).

What does "if needed" mean?

I have configured Postfix to put a "From " line in before the message reaches maildrop. I have not yet verified that it works correctly. I would like to understand maildrop's policy before I go any further with this. Will maildrop remove such a line, under any circumstances?

Thanks very much.
