I have no idea what the IP addresses above or 14400 is. I did not have the option of writing anything like that into my MX record area on Hostway. It must be automatically generated?

Using an mx look up utility,http://www.mxtoolbox.com/index.aspx, I get these mx records for your domain.:

1 aspmx.l.google.com 66.249.83.114 14400 5 alt2.aspmx.l.google.com 209.85.147.27 14400 5 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com 66.249.91.27 14400 10 aspmx2.googlemail.com 209.85.135.27 14400 10 aspmx4.googlemail.com 66.249.93.27 14400 10 aspmx3.googlemail.com 64.233.167.27 14400 10 aspmx5.googlemail.com 66.249.83.27 1440

The correct order and values should be:

ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 1 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 5 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 10 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 10 ASPMX4.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 10 ASPMX5.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 10

ribbonsofred.com is the domain name I have used with google apps.

I am reading my email at rene@ribbonsofred.com (in gmail) however I am not getting email delivered to my account. I still have the temp address to be able to receive email, however I can send email out from that address -- people just can't reply.

When I do try sending email to rene@ribbonsofred.com from another account, I am getting a failure of delivery and it basically says the email doesn't exist. Which I guess technically it doesn't (yet).

I didn't understand anything dealing with the POP, IMAP, etc below. All I'm trying to do is get my settings correct in Hostway (MX Records -- because Google doesn't provide directions on how to set up if you have this hosting account) so that google can verify my settings are correct and give me rights to psychically receive email from all of my created @ribbonsofred.com emails addresses in google apps.

Thanks! Renee

I tried hostway.com, hostway.net, hostway.info and none of the MX records matched what you included in your note. In fact, none of them pointed to Google servers.

What is the domain name used with your GApps? Are you attempting to add domain aliases at this point?

Assuming I just missed the correct domain name and these are the correct MX records then tell me some more about where you are reading your email. Have you attempted to read it using webmail and logging directly into your account? What is the error message you get for email that is not delivered (I assume you have a non-GApps email account to try this).

Using pop or IMAP can introduce other configuration problems. For pop or IMAP, the generic setup is:

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL: imap.gmail.com Use SSL: Yes Port: 993 Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication) Use Authentication: Yes Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL) Port: 465 or 587 Account Name: your GApps username (user@mydomain.com) Email Address: your full Gmail email address (user@mydomain.com) Password: your GApps password

Specific configuration instructions are available: login into your account, go to Settings and Forward/POP/IMAP. Choose the pop or IMAP instructions but use the username and email address shown above.

Hostway.com hosts my server as well as my domain name. I can go in and change MX records or create my own. This is how I have my MX Records set up.

Source: Target: google.com. 20 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com. google.com. 20 alt2.aspmx.l.google.com. google.com. 10 aspmx.l.google.com. googlemail.com. 30 aspmx2.googlemail.com. googlemail.com. 30 aspmx3.googlemail.com. googlemail.com. 30 aspmx4.googlemail.com. googlemail.com. 30 aspmx5.googlemail.com.

However... apparently this is not correct as Google has alerted me that I have an error at Hostway. I can send email out but I cannot receive it with Google Apps. I do not know how to fix this problem, and Google is not helping (as usual). I'm about to give up... it's been three weeks since I tried to complete this confusing process, and every step of the way I've had issues.

Does anyone know how to configure this stuff correctly in Hostway? Your help will be appreciated more than you know!

Happy New Year!
