I can read emails, delete emails, create folders, move emails between folders, create a draft etc. But if I try to send it ends up in the draft folder and I get the error described. If I try to reply a get a web window with only the header ("create message" + folders/create message/.../Log) Observation: only the word "Log" appears and not "Log Out".

/var/log/maillog ?

don't have maillog, but in /var/log/mail/* no errors are logged (neither in any other log. I even looked at samba!)
