Hi,

Sorry I should add the above Russian sites are obviously NSFW

Cheers

Red Cardinal, JohnMu, thankyou for your replies... I wasn't expecting any!

JohnMu, thankyou for your reply - I'm not sure if I communicated the scale... with just a few dollars (apparently) they managed to buy hundreds of porn links. I was under the impression that paid links were bad, and that porn paid links must therefore be superbad. Is this not the case? Is it that they simply have no value, negative or positive?

An example of some of the links:

# Николай, 39, Санкт-Петербург, Я мужчина, ищу женщину, Секс Authenticate the site to see additional information
text/htmlhttp://love.morkovka.net/anketa.php?8732 # Футбольные болельщицы и Футбольные фанатки " Болельщица Динамо Authenticate the site to see additional information
text/htmlhttp://sexyfans.net.ru/archives/296 # Футбольные болельщицы и Футбольные фанатки " Болельщица Локомотива ... Authenticate the site to see additional information
text/htmlhttp://sexyfans.net.ru/archives/204 # Футбольные болельщицы и Футбольные фанатки " Фото болельщиц Зенита Authenticate the site to see additional information

text/htmlhttp://love.morkovka.net/anketa.php?8821 # Эротическая - Фотогалерея Authenticate the site to see additional information
text/htmlhttp://yesxxx.ru/details.php?image_id=1958

It would not be a good idea for me to post the URL really... the SEO community is small, and I wouldn't want who did this to get any more satisfaction than they might. Also all links built to our site have to be put through our legal compliance team, and I doubt this page would make the compliant grade... I could send you the URL John?

Red Cardinal thankyou, I think you did bring me down to earth a little bit - you are right the website hasn't been destroyed... but both our reputation as a solid website (the domain has been around for over 8 years) and my reputation (10 years experience) has taken a considerable punch on the nose in becoming PR1, when we really should be at least PR3. i have had sites with only 10+ incoming links that have PR3+... Our site has 500+ according you Yahoo site explorer.

Re: The TBPR, yes it does seem to be backdated somewhat - I spotted that too... but I think Early June is the date in question - see this post dated 3rd June which has considerable
PR:http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2008/06/03/admin-bar-everywhere/

And this is about the same time we began noticing the links (so they probably existed at least a month before then)

Hi Colin and welcome to the groups!

It's hard to say too much without knowing your URL (is it the one in your profile?). That said, links such as the ones you mention should not negatively impact your site's crawling, indexing or ranking - even if they are listed in Webmaster Tools.
