Subject:[courier-users] Problems with login to imap/pop3 after ldap restartActions...

Gday good people..

Got the following installation with courier-imap running: qmail 1.03 qmail-ldap 1.03-20010301 (patch) openldap 1.2.9-6 courier-imap 1.3.5 (using both pop3d and imapd) Red Hat 6.2 (Linux 2.2.18)

My problem is that when I restart the ldap server courier-imap (autdaemon) loses
it's connection to the ldap server and clients get authentication failed, and
the logs shows:

Mar 15 09:02:29 mail pop3d: Connection, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1] Mar 15 09:02:41 mail pop3d: LOGIN FAILED, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1] Mar 15 09:02:43 mail pop3d: Disconnected, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]

It doesn't even ask ldap at all.

This problem also seam to occure somewhat at random, like if it's no used in 24
hours it will fail (note: the server is beeing put into production this week). So I have to restart the autdaemond to restablish the connection, it also works
to make at "lot" of logon attempts right after eachother to pop3 or imap, then
after like 5 or 6 logon attempts it will start asking ldap again.

Authdaemond is runninig in 5 processes (as in default config) and we got a 30
seconds ldap timeout.

Qmail-ldap is not affected by a ldap restart.

We also got another installation with the same specs only
courier-imap,qmail-ldap and openldap is of an bit older version. There we got no
souch problem when restarting ldap. Another difference is also that the ldap servers is installed on 2 separate
machines, not directly on the courier-imap servers

Now, does anyone got any idea why or an solution to this problem?

Regards j.
