Hi there to all The Gears Community...

Since the official launch of gears that I've been interested on it!

I'm developing and doing some research about web based app's, and i think that google gears is one of the best approaches to the next big step of web based applications!

But, depending on the scenario of the development of the desired app, the gears will not work...

For example, the gears will work perfectly on scenarios were ajax development occurred, but what if you dont really dont use any of that client-side technology, and instead, use extensible the server-side technology, getting back some of that "old utopia" that existed on terminal-mainframe systems!

Please correct me and even show me that I'm wrong, because i might be, i dont know that and i'm not a very experienced developer as you are!

While developing one of my current projects, witch is a Open Source Security Platform (very early stage of development), my objective was to code an web based security platform, that could be used anywhere and on every machine, as long as you have a pc, browser and internet connection!

In the development of Kontrol (open source security toolkit) i'm only using some PHP for the "core" actions and the interface is simply xhtml with extensive css's!

Back to the main subject.... The Google gears will certainly not work on this kind of web based app's! Or maybe I'm just not using the right technology.

I really belive that web based app's will have a huge boost and their use will be high and very accepted by the user-point of view!
