Perhaps your public manuals aren't as up to date as you think? The ones I
see are dated October/November 2006 and do not mention an errata in that
section of the manual.

Also you got the write-low and read-high offsets into the MSR bitmap
the wrong way round!
Oops, seems you're using an old version of Intel PRM, if you check the
latest one, you can find the sequence changed, which also confused me at
the beginning!!!
