Which versions are you using? I've upgraded some stuff (Courier-IMAP,
Vpopmail) from the FreeBSD-ports too, without any problems.
It could be that you upgraded without some necesaary arguments (see the
Makefile in the ports for those)
It could also be that the ports did not upgrade all the configuration files.
To my knowledge, that is something you have to do yourself. Check the
.dist-files and compare them to your config-files.
It may also help to clean the authentication-module list.
Kind Regards,
Sander Holthaus

Subject: Re: [courier-users] authentication stopped working , weird.
I just ran "last" to give me the exact time of the reboot,
then checked my mail logs to see when my authentication stopped
working and it was clearly, right after the reboot.
Which would lead me to believe that my upgrade last week did
something, since I haven't rebooted since then. ;(
Now i gotta figure out how hard it is to reinstall vpopmail without
hosing my current install..
jeff.
Hi,
I know it's a classic line "it just stopped working" but here
goes ;).
I'm running a qmail/courier/vpopmail combo. Been running just fine
for several months with zero interference. [on freebsd]
So today I upgraded my FBSD kernel to include support for SMBFS,
and when I rebooted I couldn't authenticate with courier anymore.
Checked /var/mail/log and it's just saying "Authentication failed"
nothing else really useful. So i used vpasswd to change the
password for my account, the changed the password in outlooks
settings and still no work..
On a side note: last week I did upgrade qmail/vpopmail/courier
with freebsd's portupgrade, i did not reboot or restart any
processes as i assumed that portupgrade did this. My mail was
working fine after that for over a week.
Does anyone have any clues, or possible tips i can try to diagnose
this further. It would be GREATLY appreciated.
