sorry, didnt make it very clear - I meant doing it within the same slice. nice to see that it works on two different slices though, I never tried that....

Just curious - did you try it with root still on the a partition? I can't think of any reason why things shouldn't work with b & a inverted.

FWIW, the reason I'm using two slices is that the other FreeBSD installation clearly isn't going to use it's swap while that one is running, so why not?
