Thanks Bill

Found the clues in the archives and now have the service running :o)

Cheers Chris

Chris,

========================== At the end of the wizard I get the message 'cannot create Windows service for MySql error:0' ==========================

Just a guess, but I suspect this is because the service already exists. If you dig into the archives or a search engine, you will probably find a remove option. When I had a similar problem, I used some service management tools of my own to remove the offending service. IIRC, it did help, but I am not certain which of the many things I tried actually got it going.
