If procmail is writing to user directory (over NFS) and the same time the user connects trough pop3 we have an entry like: 1114705115.22599.server.domain.tld.S=2365:2, 0 85:1113757716

Procmail is broken.

The correct way to deliver a message to the maildir is to write it to the tmp directory first, then move it to the new directory.

If procmail is writing the message directly to the new directory, then it is violating the maildir protocol.

It seems only MAC-Clients has problems about this zero-bytes messages. Outlook, Netscape etc. seems to work.

Thanks for any helping hint,

Stop using procmail.
