Hi,
I had the same problem and adding -noidentlookup to esmtp's TCPDOPTS solved it.

this is probably a configuration issue. (ldap based) authtest works like a charm but when I send mail from my notebook it takes 10-15 secs before the mail is send while it is less than a seconds with qmail. I supsect that this is a DNS problem but how can I test this? Or is there a different explanation?
It could also be ident-lookup if you did not disable it.
For debugging purposes, I would recommand setting -noidentlookup and -nodnslookup in TCPDOPTS in esmtp-configuration file.
You can test your DNS simply with som command-list-tools (dig, host, ...) on the server machine.
