ok, i did try and use the "hide" option, but that didnt help either.
very annoying problem because as soon as i select the surface to mesh
into, the program closes itself immediately.
i put the first house onto its own layer, and then turned the layer
off, but is there a different way to hide it? i did place the home
into the terrain as a group, but i then copied the same home to use
for the other 2 stamps/footprints (i am using the same house for all 3
lots, i just need to represent where they are).

Did you hide first home you placed before trying the stamp for the
second one? These terrains (especially together with other geometry)
are rather memory consuming...
Another possibility: didn't you incidentally place your home 1 INTO
the terrain (it's usually a group)?
