1. Every now and then Google detects click fraud, and makes corrections. Obviously this happens on content network only. If I recall correctly, this usually only happens within the next 2..3 days. When this is the case, the columns [clicks] and [cost] will change.
yep, obviously this happens. the question is how far back do they ever adjust? i have seen one day back, but i have not looked hard. sounds like you have seen 2-3 days. if google will not say, what is the farthest back anyone has seen?
2. The cookie for conversions has a life time of 30 days, so when an end-user clicks on an ad, and navigates to the conversion page within 30 days, an update to the conversion of that click will take place (plus the actual conversion column, transactions etc.). When the user reaches the conversion page after 30 days, no updates will take place.
might be my confusion here, but what date will the conversion count against in this scenario? wouldn't it be the date the conversion page is reached? i did not imagine these were matched back to the original click, but maybe they are (is this documented somewhere?)
I experienced a few exceptions to the last rule, sometimes I got updates after that period. I blame obscure web browsers with buggy cookie life times, users changing system dates etc. on this one.
so you are saying that a safe settlement time is 30 days, maybe more!? currently i pull and re-load data going back a week, overwriting what i have pulled for 6 days before + 1 new day (yesterday). going to 30 (or 30+) would really impact performance (and might hit max file size limits)...
thanks!
george
