Hmm, I have Eventum deployed in two sites (three soon) since April and we're using it SOLELY for Help Desk - no bug tracking whatsoever. It works great. Users can open issues via email and also through an internal website. Unfortunately the email accounts get their fair share of spam (I can't do much about this, for a number of reasons), so in like 99% of all cases they open issues through the web form. I think I tried more than TEN issue tracking systems over the course of a month and only one got even close to what Eventum has to offer, but alas, it only ran on Linux, and we're an MS shop here. Take a try at Eventum. Enable email integration and anonymous reporting - you'll love it. Be sure to visit the wiki (http://eventum.mysql.org/wiki), you'll find a lot of valuable information. Please let us know how it develops. Regards,

Georger

Anyone care to comment on using eventum as a helpdesk system? I'm with a small startup that is about to offer it's first bit of software. We will need helpdesk functionality soon. I've reviewed a good number of options, and probably like cerberus the best so far. I've yet to try eventum.

As a helpdesk I'd need eventum to be able to field help requests submitted via email (ala supp@mycompany.com) and via a form on the website. Issues would need to be able to be assigned to a person, and so forth. I'm pretty sure that eventum can do these things, but since eventum seems to be oriented more towards bug tracking than helpdesk, I'm wondering if I'd be trying to push it in the wrong direction. I found only one mention of the term "helpdesk" while searching these mailing list archives.

The bug tracking aspect will be handy too, we need someething like that anyways. The immediate focus however is on helpdesk.

Thanks
