Subject:[p4] Skipping generations when integrating

I know integrating between siblings is a no-no. I seem to recall that skipping generations is bad as well. I can't find where I read that. Is this true, and if so, is there a FAQ or something that explains it? For example:

________________________________ mainline \_____________ b1 \___________ b2

Is there a problem integrating directly (and only, I suppose) from b2 back to the mainline? I'm trying to advise that b2 should come off the mainline in the first place, and if skipping generations is problematic that I have even more of a case. ...RickM...
