First, I'm newby with Courier server and also I don't have a strong knowledge of
Linux in general, so apologize if my questions are a little bit trivial.

I have RHL4 installed in a virtual machine (VMware). On this virtual machine
I've installed Courier server. After some problems, I think I got a sucessfully
installation.

The name of the virtual machine is, let's say, //prueba and, for example once
the courier is running I reach prueba from outside the virtual machine by telnet
prueba 25.

I only want to test Courier, so the only thing I want at the moment is to send a
mail from me to me.

-First, how should I create the user accounts? I mean what I've done so far is
create a new user/group through System Settings/Users and Groups. This
user/group is tester. With this I have the folder in $HOME/tester

-Second, I log on as tester (su tester) and I used maildirmake $HOME/maildir to
create the maildir test in $HOME/tester.

After I use follow these steps:

mkdir /usr/local/etc/authlib/userdb

chmod 700 /usr/local/etc/authlib/userdb

userdb "tester" set home=/home/tester mail=/home/tester/maildir uid=x
gid=x

userdbpw | userdb "tester" set systempw -Third, I create /usr/lib/courier/etc/locals file and I add the following: mydomain.es

localhost

prueba

and then, I run makealiases. I also add mydomain.es to my dns file -Fourth, I create /usr/lib/courier/etc/defaultdomain with the line mydomain.es
and run again makealiases. (mydomain.es is not a real domain, I mean It is only local to my virtual
machine) Finally I try to send a mail from tes...@mydomain.es to tester@mydomaines using
a mail client (Evolution that is installed by default with RHL4) and I get these

517 Domain does not exixts: mydomain.es

  Where is the error? Should I configure anything more? Is the right way to create users? According to what I've read, this would be a
