I admit there is reason in doing it as RedHat 9 is huge step into *possible* Linux future.

It's more than that. At the end of this year RedHat is stopping errata updates for versions < 9. See http://www.redhat.com/apps/support/errata/ for details.

I'd like to see better RH9 support to be something that is a higher priority than Feature Request because these EOL dates make running older versions of RH much less attractive.

Are we absolutely sure Microsoft don't have shares in RedHat?
