No, there's no way to get around an idiot who is placed in charge of running an alleged mail server.

What you can do, though, is to add "badmx ip.address" to the bofh file [...]

One more thing you can do is to add that to rfc-ignorant.org http://www.rfc-ignorant.org/tools/submit_form.php?table=dsn

If you can make the ignorant postmaster read http://www.rfc-ignorant.org/policy-dsn.php he or she may become more acknowledged and hence amend the relevant configuration option...
