Hmmm. I just read the previous posters question about "retrieving a
stock price" which is basically what I wanted to do and the answer was
you have to do it with the google gadgets. That sounds odd that I
would have to change technologies to just get a simple stock quote.

I hope Google is monitoring this group and can answer this. I am
building a company intranet portal for my company's internal use only
and wanted to write a portlet that displays the current stock
information for my company.
I need to dig into the technical details of the APIs here, but I
assume there is some web service or some sort of stock quote API that
can give current price, opening price, etc..., all the typical stuff.
I don't really care if its realtime or delayed. The execs would
probably like realtime.
But before I dig into the API's, i wanted to see if this was an OK use
of the API. The answer is probably burried in the terms of service
but I'm not a lawyer and hate reading those things. If google comes
back and says this is OK, I'll take a closer look at how I would
implement and also give the Terms of Use to our legal department to
make sure they are happy.
