Before you go to examples, download the JDBC driver for MySQL. It's JDBC and not ODBC.

Hi I have to develop a web-application with java in tomcat and i have to
use mysql as database . The problem is that I'm not able to connect to mysql using tomcat. What can I do? What is the correct method to open a connection with mysql and tomcat without Microsoft ODBC ?
I have to use only tomcat and mysql. Have you a zipped working example?
