jonnogreen,
Here are a couple of techniques that you might try.
A. Paint the interior of the solids with the same material/color as
the exterior. You can darken the material for emphasis.
or,
B. Paint the interior of the solids black.
Both of these give a fairly good visual of solid solids

When you take a section through a SU model, objects that should be
solid (such as a concrete floor) are hollow. Now I know that one
doesn't want all closed objects to be indicated as solid (for
instance, the inside of a room in a simple conceptual model), but it
would be good if there were a way of telling SU when a closed object
is solid (maybe through a right-click menu), and if there were a ruby
script that always drew these objects as solid, even as you slide the
section along (okay, maybe when you stop moving the section plane
would be good enough!). Clients seem to find it distracting that their
floors are not solid, and that concrete beams are hollow.
Anyone got any ideas, know of a work-around (without exporting to a
drawing program and laboriously filling the solids in), or an existing
script....?
