Hi,

we are running courier-imap 0.32 in a testing environment. Authentication for system users is being done via userdb, and home, mail, uid and gid are set like they are in /etc/passwd for these users. Only the password differs.

Today, one of my users complained that if he uses netscape to create a folder in his mailspool, the maildir is created root.root 700 in his mail spool directory. I was able to verify this, and a restart of courier-imap solved the problem.

I would like to, however, report this incident to the mailing list since IMO under no circumstances should a IMAPD with a logged in user run as root. How could this have happened?
