I'm building the latest courier snapshot on a system that has never had an MTA installed, not even sendmail. So, none of the typical default mailbox variables have been set, nor any of the typical mailbox locations. I would like it to use './Maildir', but can't seem to find a way to do that. I tried adding --with-default-maildrop=./Maildir, but it still failed. Here's the message:

checking mail transport agent... /usr/local/courier/bin/sendmail checking location of system mailboxes... configure: error: Cannot determine default mailbox configure: error: ./configure failed for maildrop

Anyway, I finally got it to work by setting $QMAIL to some random string.
