Chris Nandor [pud@pobox.com] quoth: *> *>>:) This company is one of the 'four horsemen of the internet' so if THEY *>>aren't warm and fuzzy over Perl it's not a good sign. *> *>Eh. It doesn't bother me. Just look at the numbers. Perl is used all *>over the place. If some company, however big they are, doesn't want to use *>it, that's their problem.

True, but take my point here that if leader in the industry, particularly in the sector that Perl made its fame in, doesn't give its seal of approval for Perl, then that might be something to analyse. In the end, it could become everyones problem.

I wanted to purchase Network Shell for distributed administration and there was some concern that it is a small company and might not be able to offer an appropriate level of support.

*>See, I look at this a little differently from others. Perl is HUGE in its *>acceptance and use in this world of ours. Would I like it to be bigger? *>Sure. but I am not worried about people not accepting it, because by and *>large they do. And those that don't will all die a horrible, painful death *>when WE RULE THE WORLD. *ahem*

Accepting it and using it for production are entirely different things. I hope Jon's prophecy is spot on :) I'm not losing sleep over this, but it is germane for the advocacy types to wonder why a leader in the industry isn't keen on Perl, how that policy may have been formed and what sorts of things people can do to change them or at least bend them.
