The problem with the exercises is they rely on imports. So technically if you would run around on your own, you will have tons of errors since you were much very dependent on the example includes.

I would recommend that you do all 3 of the NotePad exercises. They walk you through how to create and use different interfaces, adding features in each exercise. Here is the link:http://code.google.com/android/intro/tutorial.html

Good day,
I dont know if im having the same problem as any one of you but apparently.. Im having a hard time moving on from the hello world app. First of all, I tried using the android.media API to create a simple app that plays a specific mp3 from a file.. I spent hours not knowing what to do.. So I decided that ive got to move a little lower, just to at least output a text box or load an image to my app but to no avail.
I moderately use JAVA and im somewhat accustomed to all the stuff but I feel that Android was a bit complex to handle without 'spoonfeeding' type of tutorials.
I would appreciate if someone would direct me to a website or to an article which deals with simple input output.. Loading images.. using the XML for layouting and other stuff like using id's from the XML in the app itself.. Ive looked at the tutorial of Dan Morrill and it was too much to comprehend since he was copying and pasting a lot of stuff without explaining in detail how each line works..
Or should I assume that he's working at a pace in which only experienced developers could catch up..
And I think Android needs an offline downloadable copy of the documentation, like that of the java API specs.. Much like that Java documentation download found in this page. http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp#docs
