And I would assume eventually packages will be created for the 'popular' package manager/distros: apt, rpm, gentoo, slack. The sooner someone starts working on a .deb, the sooner I can start testing it.

To some degree it will be more work for me. but I have found it better than using pen and paper or DB4. As long as it doesn't create more work for someone else, it seems like a reasonable thing to hope for.
