undefined symbol: pvm_pkbyte (fatal)

seems to be the problem. have a look at the exported symbols:

#> nm /usr/lib/libgpvm3.so.3.4.5

a capital 'U' means that the symbol is undefined. you can also check the shared library dependencies:

#> ldd -v /usr/lib/libgpvm3.so.3.4.5

what linux flavor are you running ? ubuntu ? debian ?
