We used to use a P2/233 with 256MB RAM and a RAID5 disk array. Our system was a Dell PowerEdge server, I believe.

Dells are very robust machines and come with good components.

We moved off NT eventually, in part because even a rare blue screen is unacceptable. We now use a FreeBSD server and have not had a machine crash since making the change about 3 months ago.

We're trying to determine what hardware we need to set up a p4 server on NT. We'll have 25-40 users. Our main codeline has about 5000 files at the moment, but we'll be breaking that up into smaller chunks.

CPU: We have a Pentium 200 MHz available now, or we can look for something faster. The doc sys CPU is not the big constraint. What speed do other folks use? Does 200 MHz sound fine for a machine that just runs Perforce server?

The available machine currently has 64M of RAM. My impression is we should double that.

In general, I'd be interested in hearing what sort of NT machine people use to run the Perforce server.
