Hi Sharad,
Thanks for your contribution into my work.
Your input assisted me in setting up my first NDB Cluster Installation; with
1MGMD node, 4 NDBD nodes, 1 API node on a single machine (64 bit AMD opteron).
Now, I would like to move two of my NDBD nodes in the cluster to another
computer on the same network. This is my understanding of what I need to do:
1) Edit the config file, for 2 DB nodes to be moved to another computer. Specify
the location or Domain name of the computer
2) Go to the additional computer and Create the directory for the ndbd nodes to
log data to disk.
I am not sure whether or not I have to install the MySQL-4.1.9 on the
additional computer
Please can you help vet this approach and correct me wherever necessary.
Also,
I have tried to connect the MySQLD installation on another computer to the
cluster. The following is the steps I have taken
1)Installed the MySQL -4.1.9 on the additional machine
2)Enabled it for ndbcluster support from the my.cnf file
3)Specified the name of the computer hosting the mgmd server
After starting the MySQLD successfully, I checked the cluster (using mgm
program) to see if this additional api connected but there was no connection.
Please could you point to me what I did wrongly or yet to do.
I will appreciate your quick response
Thanks

Hi Cogi
I was amazed to see that the mail was specifically directed only to me. Anyways, I will suggest you try the mysql-4.1.5-gamma.tar.gz for installation. Plz dont forget to use the --with-ndbcluster flag while configuring.
After that, use the instructions on the site. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Quick_install.html and http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/MySQL_Cluster_installing.html
Plz post the config.ini file and specific error that you get while setting the simple cluster.

Hi Sharad,
I wonder why it is a bit hard to setup a simple one db node cluster
I have tried to use the mysql- 4.1.5-glibc3-x86_64. rpm file but nothing yet
I have created the config.ini file and editted the my-medium.cnf to my.cnf and
enable NDB Cluster but nothing yet
What could be the problem?
the file mysql; which is suppose to serve as client for the cluster is not even
installed in setting up the rpm file.
Yet you guys have started having a feel of what the mysql cluster is all about.
Please I will need your assistance
I am surprised my installation is not yet working
Pls do well to assist me
I will be grateful
