That cannot be disabled without patching code. 8 bit headers are protocol
violations. Go back and read last month's archives, with people complaining
about Outlook falling apart when it eats mail with 8 bit headers. It's
better to bounce this corruption and let the sender deal with it.

bounce as I think the messages would bounce back to the mailing lists that
they originated from.
Depends on the mailing list. There are a number of different email address
fields in the headers, and one is, by convention, used for bounce messages.
If the mailing list administrator bothers to set the list up properly,
bounce messages will go to a proper bounce trap. In an ideal world, this
would also kill off all those annoying "vacation" messages that seem to
plague certain lists. Of course, that relies on the vacation message
generator using the correct header field to generate the return address -
and preferably only sending each vacation message once to each recipient, to
avoid the bounce trap from unsubscribing the individual.
