Warren,
I will be happy to test this for you on Solaris.
I noticed that you checked in a new version of the file 'mysql_loc.m4'.
I'm not that familiar with autoconf so what do I need to do to generate
a new configure script that includes your change?

Thanks for the report, and the diagnosis. I've checked a change into
svn that should fix this. I hope you can try it before I release 2.3.
I don't know whether it works, since I don't have any kind of modern
SysV box here to try it on.
