Hi

The ODBC are drivers used to connect client applications with the server. The driver use a text file named DSN which contains the information to realize this job. e.g. if you use Access and want to connect with the MySQL server you should create an DSN file where you put the user name, the database name, the password, the machine IP or the the DNS name, ect.

Then "ODBC Data Source Administrator" is the tool that you use to create the DSN file.

If you put attention, in the Data Source administrator there are the explanation for "User DSN", a "System DSN", a "File DSN" .

Could someone explain me please, what the "ODBC Data Source Administrator" from "Control Panel->ODBC Data Sources (32 bit)" does ? What's a "User DSN", a "System DSN", a "File DSN" ?

Thanx in advance
