If you think that courier does not support vpopmail backend you should remove vpopmail support from source.

I'm beginning to agree. Vpopmail has been nothing but a pain, for the last ten years. Qmail is, for all practical purposes, dead. The minor twitching, over the course of the past week, is not going to change that. Anyone who chooses Qmail for a new server now should have his head examined.
